Retractable Chain

by RynZelara   Feb 24, 2011

Shackles of dusk grasp me
Twilight consumes my every move
This retractable chain, sturdy is it
Two steps forward, three steps back
When will this darkness end?
Pasted against that wall of black
No morning to be found
No sunrise to look forward to

But why?

The evil influence swirls around
Manipulating and causing distress
What other reason could there be
For the darkness to ensnare the light
The light that is permeating all
Pure light is never ended, only subdued
By the restraints of the mind
Confused and sent astray
By the prism of ones inner being
Yet still, broken and separated
It shines through radiantly
Always seeking a way to shine whole

And here I stand, my light broken
Seeking that oneness, that wholeness
Prism slowly cracking, rays merging
Waiting for that moment
When I can look in the mirror
And see a shining, brilliant reflection

But for now, I stand hunched
Back against this black wall
Shackled by this retractable chain
