Do you judge?

by ronnie   Mar 16, 2011

Her name is Grace,
she is beautiful, just like her name
people don't see her personality
they only see her autism
she is different
but that only makes her
better than the people that judge her.

Anastasia the name her mother chose
her mom, the one who was never around
she grew up poor,
pappa was an alcoholic
and mom just didn't care
they see her as a beggar, street girl
but she will always be more

Damien dresses in black,
eyeliner expresses his emotions,
he has no one, the streets
are his home,
he is labeled druggie, thief, failure,
but if only they knew
what he has been through

Alice Drinks every night
She knows she is Dependant,
it is an addiction,
Daddy, grandma, and auntie
all love the alcohol too.
She knows it will destroy her
but she just needs it to feel okay
about herself and her past

Alexander keeps secrets,
and he steals from the ones he loves
he feels terrible but he is in need,
it started at a party in freshman year
and it's been an addiction ever since,
he messed up things bad,
but the ones he love still have faith in him

Her name is Olivia,
and she believes he loves her,
he always apologizes,
He didn't mean to hurt her,
the bruises will go away eventually
and everything will be okay
because he loves her right?

Everyone in this poem is made up but based on real people. Mental disease is not something to judge no matter what kind. One of my best friends has a mild form of autism, he is one of the smartest people I have met. I grew up on the street, I became addict, I go to western washing university and hope someday to be a drug and alcohol counselor for kids, I feel I would be good at that given my background. I could really help people. The meaning of this poem is not to judge anyone on what their life is like, only their personality. I see wrongful judgment and I wish it would STOP. Anyway I hope you liked my poem and please tell me if I can improve my writing I really appreciate criticism
