Strange talismans

by Mr Rhee   Mar 26, 2011

Wine in a glass, dark and red.
Smooth silk on your skin,
shiny, and freshening.
The sparkle of a diamond,
flashing you in your eyes.

Clean, cool, water,
out of brand new, glass bottles.
Fresh, warm bread, to butter
with your polished silver wares.

Strange talismans, that we all
carry in our minds.
Wished images of grandeur,
like winning prizes and money,
for deeds only you can do.

The simple things we all want,
so we can have a life so easy.
Where have all the little things
gone, that we grew up with?

Dreams, and wants, and desires,
had by you and all.
What a terrible demise
when you find out it can't be had.
Just more THINGS for your wish book.

Read your catalogs,
make your lists.
Want, and want, and want.
Oh, yeah, don't forget the video games.
