Her Vows

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 23, 2011

I do not want to be cuddled
or sheltered by your charms
nor brought kicking and screaming
into the safety of your arms;

I will never lie huddled
before your hearth and fire
and I will not raise our children
to obey and fear their sire;

I am equal, not befuddled
nothing less will be taken;
your ways are yours alone
let me mine or be forsaken.
