To honor my own

by Yakari Gabriel   May 4, 2011

If one day my shoelaces betray me,
and I fall down within the crowd
as they stare,and laugh
make fun of me,
I promise to stand up tie them
harder and keep on walking..

You know why?

Because it was MY fall..

I along with my ideologies my thoughts
my past my present my future
create who I am.

I alone..can choose what makes
me happy or what makes me sad
I conquer myself,I rule me.

I'm my own queen,
my own judge,
my own case
my own lawyer.

its only up to me to decide
All of which I will or will not follow
what builds me up and what tears me down..

I own my skin,my eyes,my senses.

What pleases my eyes,what doesn't.
Is my problem,my taste,my choice.

Who said i had to follow society?
No one has the right to mark me..
To force opinions like bread down my throat..

I am me.
Even if I don't fit in.
Even if I don't belong.

I am me!.
And no one has the right to decide upon me..

I am my own being
.my enemy,
my best friend,

I am my all.
I will never be alone,

I will always have myself to love.

"its only up to me to decide"

    Its should be It's :)

I have to say, my favorite part about this poem was the ending. I love how you summed this feeling up with saying you always have you - and that is the most important thing. You must love yourself..VERY strong ending.

I love the sense of self worth you have here. It's like you're saying "I am who I am, if you don't like it, tough!" It's a very strong and smart mentality!
