Persephone and Hades

by H. Elizabeth   May 11, 2011

** Having to do an English project over myths of our choosing. I chose to write poems from Greek myths and I am writing poetry about some of the Greek characters -- this is my first one. Enjoy.**

She sat there in the cold, dark room.
He watched her as she grew quieter, paler, and was filled with gloom.
Hades knew his three months were up.
It was time to send his dear Persephone back.

**Demeter was Persephone's mother. She was furious Hades had kidnapped her daughter and made her his wife. Demeter was Goddess of the Seasons and since Hades had Persephone, Demeter was sad. Since Demeter was sad, every day was cold and dark. There was no food growing. People were beginning to die. Zeus wasn't going to have any subjects to rule. Zeus negotiated with Hades. Hades gave Persephone back, but he still got her 3 months out of the year. During those 3 months, days were long, dark, and cold. Winter.**
