Life Isn’t Fair

The human race is fragile.
Everything as we know it is
Being ripped away from us.
Life is hard. Change is worse.
Closure does not exist in
The Real World ™.
There is no such thing as
Saying “goodbye”.
Only the unknown of
Tomorrow exists.
Do we even have a future?
We are crumbling piece by piece.
Just like old abandoned buildings
That once stood so strongly atop their foundation.
Left behind without a second thought,
Now hollow on the inside.
We are broken.
Broken children’s toys that have
Now been thrown away.
A crumbling economy and a broken system.
We are being tossed into the unknown
And we only hope for survival.
But everything as we know it is
Being ripped away from us.
Everything is falling apart.
The Human Race Is Fragile.

    HANNAH! Welcome back! Seriously, so good to see your new poems and I hope you've been well :)

    This hit hard and I really like how you tell it like it is, like a fact, stating what is right in front of us and WHY it's so scary. The first and last line being the same gave even more of an impending feeling that we can try and try to overcome and find that closure, yet at the end of the day, nothing is guaranteed. And maybe in realizing and understanding how fragile we are, we can learn from this and be more gentle with each other.

    I almost found comfort in this? In the way that we all are dealing with an unknown, and I'd rather admit that and admit that we're broken instead of hiding those fears, because that's real to me. I don't want to go through life pretending and even if it means hurting more, and realizing some things are doomed, it's like we can allow ourselves peace that there is only so much we can physically do and change as humans.

    SO GLAD you're back!
