Shattered Beyond Repair

by It Only Hurts When Im Breathing   May 14, 2011

An isolated child, a ruined woman,
Broken memories of days gone by,
When did that little girl shatter, beyond repair?
Holding herself late into the night,
Keeping the broken fragments together,
When did that little girl shatter, beyond repair?

An indifferent friend, a compassionate enemy,
Crushed values carelessly ignored,
When did that little girl shatter, beyond repair?
Fighting futile internal battles,
Breathing reluctant staggered breaths,
When did that little girl shatter, beyond repair?

A content fantasist, a miserable realist,
Delicate delusions long disregarded,
When did that little girl shatter, beyond repair?
Embracing the unfathomable despair,
Bleeding out scorching tears,
When did I become that little girl, shattered beyond repair?
