Lost Angel

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

A precious joining
A spark conceived
Life and a small Soul begins
a journey toward the light
Day on day growing
Bonding to the mother's heart
This small and fragile life
though as yet unseen
gives all that it can give
The hope of gleaming eyes
and unconditional love

Yet sometimes
the journey ends with no steps taken
and a life that never makes the light
is gone
A mother's grief
A sharp knife of helplessness
The love and imeasurable anguish
The hopeless rage of futility
to never see her soul reflected
in her baby's dancing eyes
An end before beginning
as one more Lost Angel
goes home
