From the Light

by Thomas Pender   May 30, 2011

Take one long and final step
though the pages of a holy book
To the very edge of all of wisdom's words
And look into the promise there
Take your fate and clench it hard
And hope this fate alone
will reveal interpretation
To know that the final page will close
on all learning

Take one long and final step
through the range of nature's beauty
to the very edge of all the mountains high
And look into the valleys there
Take your fate and spread it wide
And believe this fate alone
will reveal the understanding
To know that the final Moon will set
on nature's beauty

Take one long and final step
to where the last battle rages
to the very edge of all the Kingdom's roads
And look into the Soldier's eyes
Take your fate and dream of peace
And pray this fate alone
will help to stem the hatred
To know that the final war will end
with a victor

Take one long and final step
through the last streams of Sun
to the very edge of all the light you know
And look into the blackness there
Take your fate and hold it high
And will this fate alone
calm that rising desperation
To know that final step must come
into the unknown
