I asked you what was the best thing that ever happened to you
You said me
I asked you what the happiest day of your life was
You said the day I walked into it
I asked you if you would ever forget me
You said that was like forgetting how to breathe
I asked you if you would ever leave me
You said that was like committing suicide
I asked you if you loved me
You said nothing
You just hugged me and held me close
And I didn't need to the words because I knew what they would be
You would say
You made every aspect of myself better
You brought light into the dark places
You brought love where there had once been hate
You taught me what love is...and that's you
But then I push through the illusion
And you were sitting next to me
As just a friend
