A Simple Thing Called Hope

by Hopeful   Jun 23, 2011

In the darkness of my night,
Seemingly helpless as can be
I find a glimpse of hope,
From the friend you've been to me.

Things go wrong, but things do go right
It's possible not to hurt.
Constant pain, it can be a choice,
At least, that's what I have learned.

It hurts, it hurts, it hurts some more
It's a constant thing, day and night.
But after a while, if you try,
After a while, things start to seem alright.

Theres a simple thing you need to do-
Believe there's good, it's not all bad.
No matter how upset you may be,
You will not forever feel only sad.

Just smile more, all the time
Even if it's fake.
Laugh occasionally, even if it hurts,
Give your eyes and tears a break.

The pain's still there, it will never fade,
But all in all, life goes on.
Because letting go doesn't mean you're weak,
It only means you're incredibly strong.

Over all this poem is amazing. The message is just stunning. You have a beautiful flow, great choice of words too. I think this fit together well, and of many like it this one leaves an impression. Emotion and hope just ooze out of it everywhere.

^ Is my favorite stanza, because it's when hope is really introduced to the poem. This is what makes everything else fall into place.

This poem is so extraordinary that it is totally getting 5/5 from me
