More Than I Need

by Andrea Trapp   Jun 26, 2011

I asked for a snack
and was given a meal
complete with carrots and roast and potatoes.

I asked for an umbrella to protect me from the rain
and was given a home
complete with a roof and heat and a dog.

I asked for a hug
and was given unconditional love
complete with a mom and a dad and a sister.

I asked for solitude
and was a given a room
complete with a door that shut and silence and my thoughts.

I asked for company
and was given friends
complete with smiles and laughs and trust.

I asked for life
and was given the world
complete with challenges and achievements and happiness.
