Never thought...

Knock, knock, please come in
Oh, I wasn't expecting you this soon
I thought you were never going to come
Sorry I was outside looking at the moon

What brings you this fine, cold night
Did I do something to make you come
I thought everything was so right
Thinking that we would never be done

But here you stand in front of me
A dark chill runs down my spine
My heart begins to beat faster
Knowing that something isn't fine

You see, it isn't a person but a word
It says there will never be another try
It burns the soul and tears you apart
As I painfully hear the word goodbye...

    I think that this poem has a really strong message and I like the images you used. The emotions are really powerful and they seem honest and heartfelt. I have to admit that I somewhat expected the end, but I never thought you'd word it this beautiful, I really loved it.

    These are my 2 favorite stanzas. I could actually feel the chill going down the spine as he hears Goodbye. one of the most dreadful words in a relationship & in life in general.

    Amazing poem :)
    Emotion flows out so perfectly, you can relate to it. The pain of heartbreak, the worst feeling in the world.
