This day has finally come... (Revised)

Hurrying home to get started
I have so many things to do
I've thought it all out in my head
Tonight I'm going to surprise you

I bought two dozen roses
The table is now set
Dinner is in the oven
This moment, you'll never forget

I run around lighting the candles
Making a path of petals from the door
With the extra rose petals,
I wrote, "I love you" on the floor

I check my playlist of my favorite songs
The ones that we picked out together
Love songs that we label as "ours"
A card that ends with, "I'll love you forever"

Dinner is done, you should be home soon
I prepare my speech I'm about to give
My heart is racing, my hands are clammy
With you forever, is how I want to live

I pull out the box and admire the diamond
I can't believe this day has finally come
My phone rings, it's you calling
"Matt, I'm sorry but we are done"

I don't understand, what happened?
"Matt, I love you with all of my heart,
But it is time for us to move on"
I never thought we would ever grow apart...
