A bet that broke me

by fakingeverything   Sep 30, 2011

The rumors, they cut deep into my scarred flesh,
Like the one where you went out with me because of a bet?
And when I confronted you, you just said it wasn't true,
But I really can't believe it because it's something you would do.
You would play a girl just to get that reaction,
From your friends who applaud you with satisfaction.
You would break a girl who has been broken too many times,
And then you'd laugh it off and, for you, everything would be fine.
But nothing will be fine with that girl you just played,
She would cry every night, screaming for you to stay.
Wishing that she could be, the one thing that you need most.
You would be her death, you would be her ghost,
That would haunt her for the rest of her depressing life.
You would be the reason she clings to the knife.
And how do I know this? Well I'm the girl that got played
And had her heart ripped out because he didn't care enough to stay...

I like to read a piece that brings the reader along on the emotional pike where he is able to see and feel as he reads. Well done!!
