She Says She's Just Living.

by Jess   Oct 26, 2011

This is the story of a girl,
who lives for the night.

This girl lives with her eyes wide.
No questions, no worries

Just the way her heart speaks,
through the endless nights.

She drinks straight whiskey.
No boy, can really compete.

They say she got attitude,
she says shes just living.

She is underestimated,
no one can see who she really is.

She grew up watching her momma,
stripping, and bar tending.

She didn't know any better,
so she grew up in her mommas foot steps.

Always a follower, never a leader.
There's only one time when shes really herself.

And that's when she's stripping, and bar tending.

[This Poem Does NOT Relate To Me.. I Know A Girl. Whos Really Close To Me And She Is Struggling To Find Her Way In Life. Her Mom Passed Away After Her 18th Birthday So She Thought She Was Doing Whats Right. Pray For Hanna, Please. Shes Gotten Into Some Bad Stuff.]

    Oh poor hanna...!
It's fantastic of you to showcase a girl's plight through you poem and in return what she gets is wishes and hopes to be on-track soon....!
I really applaud you for this...
    great work jessi...
I hope you to personally try and influence her in the right way....:]

The only thing I'd recommend to change is the title because it's too simple and it doesn't tell anything about this poem, well obviously it's a story about a girl, but I think it'd be better if you used a title that'd somehow give a hint what this poem is going to be dealing with.

I enjoyed how the story in this poem slowly developes because that kept me interested. It's better to tell little by little than reveal the whole truth right away. I didn't expect it this way either. The feelings in this poem are strong and they touched me, I felt quite sad while reading this and I can imagine how you feel too because you want to help her, but don't exactly know what you may do for her.
