Mother's Story

by kiara   Oct 31, 2011

Chained and imprisoned by grief's despair
She slowly creeps out of bed and does her hair
Make up covers the deep pain inside
As she notices her beds empty left side
Pieces of clothing she slowly puts on
Effortlessly starting her day along
But disturbing remembrance haunts her mind
Making it hard to move forward and stay in line
She has no choice though, she has a daughter
Who depends on her, her spirit's been slaughtered
The father, the husband, left with another
Didn't think twice about the feelings of others
The pain of abandonment has their spirits tainted
A family now torn apart and forever separated
Tossing and turning of sleepless nights
Raging anger blistering her sight
Surmountable pain holding her down
A lingering love she wants to drown
How could the man she love betray her in such a way?
Her heart and her soul she gave for him to stay
Yet arguments still flashed between the two
Shout piercing through the home, "How could you!"
A family that once was, was now destroyed
The mother left with nothing but this empty void
She embarks to the kitchen to get some food
But the grief within her shuts down that mood
Depression eats at her more and more
Completely lost she's just too torn
She sits at the table and begins to cry
Starring at the ceiling asking to the heavens "why?"
She sees her daughter quietly hugging the wall
Watching her mother's internal brawl
The mother gets up and embraces her child
The one sweet condolence that helps her smile
In each others arms they immerse in pain
One holding the other, a broken family's remains
