Monster in the closet

by The Po whet   Nov 16, 2011

The same mistake done,
not once,twice but over and over again.
causing an addition to your addictions,
thus no subduction but prove of an abduction.
He winks at you and as though a signal,
you light the cigar inhaling the smoke destroying your lungs
breeding Cancer.
surely,you'll be dying soon before your time
(what a pitty)
but he'll remain in the safety of your closet.

He snaps his finger and like a puppet you gulp down the beer mugs till you drown.
the results;
you lose your job
your marriage in shumbles
your health deteriorates.
irresponsibility becomes your best ability.

He parts you on the back
you mistake it for a compliment.
You go ahead to inject your self with that "poppy"
lost in hallucinations
oblivious of your actions;
rape,murder
worse of
AIDS!

He gives you a high five
you think he's your best pal ever.
He'll keep leading you on towards the cliff into the ocean deep where forever you'll be no more.

He's no friend but a fiend
it's time you forced him out and yell out loud to his face
"to hell with you!
I'm my own master
henceforth"

    How the heck this didn't have any ratings or comments I'll never know. It's beautiful in it's sobriety.

    Sex, drugs and rock and roll kind of poem. How they can all be truly addictive but they take lives. Your imagery amongst everything else in this piece is perfect, in my opinion.

    I love the last stanza because although you may want to be set free as an addict it's hard to say adios.

    Take care, Em
