A lovely day

A Lovely Day

A glistening spider web draped neatly on the cracked windowsill.
Dangling dew drops hang in suspended animation on the garden windmill.
Leaves tickle the frosty glass, dragonflies fly playfully above the green grass.
~~
Clouds heavy with expectation creep upon the fire of early morn.
Somewhere a tear falls; a smile crack on an old face, a baby is being born.
Far away in distant cloudy memory it is still, dreams hiding under the night frill.
~~
He looks up, the green in his eyes shattered into a million emerald pieces of despair.
In the peaceful savanna of my quiet heart the grass stir under the sun's glare.
Candle burn with flickering flame, scorned guilt laced with torturous blame?
~~
The skin of sunbathed bronze on his gentle hands burn within my soul.
Sunflowers on cloth, bright yellow contradicting the solemn cereal in the bowl.
Lusty serpent's tongue whispers softy, of a black bird sitting in a tree.
~~
The echoes of his sudden words, ripple through the intense layers of my being.
Strings upon the heart, pulled tight as the nervous chorus prepare to start singing.
"I love you" he said, the snake in the overgrowth turned up cold and dead.
