You put it down

by Yakari Gabriel   Dec 14, 2011

Its here,
there,everywhere.

the glow of your
eyes slowly begins
to fade like darkness-
whenever dawn breaks.

you're dying
to take a bite

but the bones inside
whisper

"put it down,or
we won't come out"

you look around,
three or four times
as you fall into bed
with the king of jungle,
angry in your stomach..

it hurts,
but you've already
poisoned your thoughts.

you're already
convinced
that,

"nothing tastes as good,as skinny feels like"

the last line are words from a super model

Wow! The brutal honesty in this is a little terrifying. I mean not in a bad way but eating disorders are a terrible thing and so many people are affected by them.

I love that you chose the lines of a supermodel to end the poem. It really brought your entire vision home!
    Well done!!!
