You Told me To...

by StarryBlackNight   Dec 16, 2011

You told me to tell you something,
but what I couldn't say.
I can't call forth a word to sing,
and in the end it's you who must pay.

You told me a story of sorts,
and I laughed when I should have cried.
This fantasy is my last resort,
and now my mind is silenced.

You told me not to screw up this time,
but in the end I made the same mistake.
When I was looking the other way you slipped by,
and you decided to be the one to take.

You told me laugh and joke,
and so I did for a while.
But at the end our hearts both broke,
and nothing we say will be worthwhile.

I tried to do my best for you,
but in the end you screwed up too.
