Gray and Green

by Lofallenve   Dec 22, 2011

In this world that seems desolate and bleak
Why won't you help me see, what inspires me?
I'm lying here pounding on the pavement,
Searching for the trapped flower,
I'm tearing at the sidewalk cracks.
How can you see in this world so black?
I'm coughing in the exhaust,
Where can this flower be?
Passerby's, won't you stop and help me?
Expensive shoes clack on the cement,
Lavish jackets whirl in the polluted wind.
These clothes hang off my petite frame,
They're torn and destroyed, ragged remnants.
I'm on my knees, tears spilling down my dirty cheeks.
My nails are torn and bleeding,
Why won't you help me?
Are you afraid of what the world would be?
Are you afraid of losing your gray and white world?
Why can't you see the goal I am trying to achieve?
A world of beautiful shades of green?
In this world that is desolate and bleak,
Why won't you help me see, what inspires me?

This piece is great. I really enjoyed it..at times, it made me sad, i was visioning people just passing by this girl who needs their help and they do nothing. Amazing.

Passerby's, won't you stop and help me?

^^ I loved that question and I ask that often. Why don't strangers help strangers they see need help? I am a passerby that helps.

I liked your title also. Very different and like Tara said since you wrote a contrasting type poem, gray green were great choices to describe it.

    Good write!

The title caught my eye because we used to have a bus company called Gray Green here, haha,
    (random fact for you)
but also because of the contrast
Gray is a bleak colour, the colour of rainclouds
and Green is the colour of nature and luck

I got from the beginning that you were questioning your inspiration in a world that is falling apart.
You were asking for help to change the world but other people don't notice whags going on, they all are in there own lives.

I loved the meaning of this, reaching out to make it a better place.
    Fantastic!!
