The songs...

by WanderingShade   Jan 4, 2012

There are nights when the music flows,
Like a river of ice around my heart,
Reminding me of your face,
And cutting me like a hot knife through butter...

But there are days when the music rushes,
Like a babbling brook through my head,
Replaying the memories that make me feel alive,
And caress my wounds that won't heal...

If I've learned one thing,
It's that you were more to me,
Than just a passerby,
You were my heart and soul,
And now I'm living without you...

There are nights when the music flows,
Like a river of ice around my heart,
    Reminding me of your face,
And cutting me like a hot knife through butter...

^This is a nice speedy start an extremely creative. I like the similes that are here, they paint some beautiful descriptions.

But there are days when the music rushes,
Like a babbling brook through my head,
Replaying the memories that make me feel alive,
And caress my wounds that won't heal...

^This stanza is mostly comprised of images relaying your emotions, which I think is a fabulous thing.

    If I've learned one thing,
It's that you were more to me,
    Than just a passerby,
You were my heart and soul,
And now I'm living without you...

^This is a magnificent ending, with such power, emotion and description. It tells the end of the story just like a book would, with a lesson.

All in all, I am a fan of this simple yet marvelous piece. 5/5 and I look forward to reading more of your work.
