My Shiny Red Apple

by SunnyD95   Jan 10, 2012

In these lines from time to time
I still remember you
Like the grass remembers the rain.
Your love was like orange juice
Bright, sweet and cold,
Sometimes cloudy.

You were never my sunshine
But my rain
Always washing my pain away,
Hoping for a better day.

Embracing hugs,
Warm and rugged
I felt so loved.

Like the swing
Tied to the tree
You always held on.

But your grip,
Too tight
Left painful marks.
On my shiny, red apple.

The bruises left unseen,
Were pushed far away.
Eyes chose not to see
The dark, ugly scars
That lie inside
My broken heart.
