Incomitatus

by Anna Stephens   Jan 25, 2012

Many more years of a life
Sacrificed on the altar of errant choices.
Tears mingled with the ashes
Of the fiercely independent.
A soul ravaged by the fire
Of bitter disappointment.
The heart longing for a peaceful place
Upon which to rest its solitary shell.

Indeed, very good. Should ravished be ravaged? The latter makes more easy sense though i can see a place for the former too!
    Powerful poem.

    I don't remember this poem...
You sure hit me deep this morning. Short, powerful and reflective.
