Heartfelt Memory

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 9, 2012

If you were time you would be the present
That would raise my spirit like a perfect gift
There would be no pain, no death to resent
Only memories of you to give me a lift
I feel your love even when I am numb
I believe I could hear your name while mute
Spoken from the lonely ones deaf and dumb
Who have often eaten of the fordidden fruit
Once when you were the apple of my eye
I had dreamt of reaching the tree of life
I never thought it would be you who'd die
In the arms of one who freed you from strife

I enjoyed your double entendre at the beginning! And the rest of it as well. Very nicely done. 5/5
