The Roads We Walk

by Soulful Ensemble   Feb 17, 2012

Flowers blooming with heavy rose petals
Dust in my eyes from the dirty dark meadows
The enormous eyes of owls watching as we go
Through deep forests with resounding winds that bellow.
I see gardens, maybe cultivated by the strongest fellows
Flora lives in colors with hues of reds and yellows
Vibrant sounds reflect from within twenty cellos
And those who truly love will seldomly settle.
We travel fast through worn down tracks daily
Though darkness hides beauty we still sing gaily.
Pieces of unknowns attempt to piece themselves together
As we search the abyss we wonder if this is all forever.
Imagining what lies beneath we fall into obscurity
Lilac scented hallways seem to cloud all purity.
Some of us ride calmly though the roadway is plagued
Many stones cover sharply the rocky path that is laid
Cutting through tender feelings like dagger blades
While others wish their conscience would not fade.
Some of us sit waiting, always lonely and afraid
Long hopeless walks leave the heart torn and frayed.
The way things turn out sometimes makes us feel betrayed
But beauty's marks live on with the sun's rays.
