I looked in the mirror and saw a face.
That face smiled and blinked.
Moved her head from side to side.
I looked in the mirror and saw the exterior
The thing that hid my corrupt, broken soul.
and all of the tatters of my shattered heart
I looked in the mirror and saw a young girl
but all I felt was a worn out reason to live
That this girl somehow seemed to not need
I looked in the mirror and saw scars
remnants of a life I once had and longed for again
a new name for every one, and more still to come.
I looked in the mirror and I saw a blade
a way to keep my pain bottled up for one more day
Small geysers of blood giving me reasons to end it
I looked in the mirror and did not see MY reflection
but an act that I so flawlessly put on for everyone else
and a person who longed to be free from the chains of her own solitude
