Patches Of Reality

by Mello193   Mar 9, 2012

One eye sees into the future
a shadow foretold
into the days of our nature
the days we should be old
a lifetime in solid solitude
a lifetime of regret alone
a daytime of servitude
and nighttime still unknown

the other eyes sees only the past
a memory or maybe a dream
never the entire picture
how long will this last
a dream of a the days
another past life
a nightmare in new ways
a sharp bladed knife

just patches of reality
all i ever see
and if you were me
you'd run to your own sanctuary
just more weight to carry

my right eye only sees the present
the dream I'll never wake
my left eye only sees the past
the daily mistakes i remake
and reinvent a hip new way to be lonely
a jive new kind of unhappy
same old one and only
teeth unearth lest snappy

the real kind of hurt
believing in what has been
only to relive the pain
of what these eyes have seen

artificial sight
freedom in the night
until i great white light
shining so damn bright
nearly blinded my height
and it came as a fright
something so queer and contrite
like a vampire bite
a bird with no flight
just holding me tight
just to overwrite
so i can be alright.
