Spellbound (Quatern)

by Maple Tree   Apr 1, 2012

I'm the shadow kissing your tears
allow my soul to drown dark fears
rose dusk petals adorn soft skin
embrace the moon, let love begin

Lover's that was lost in past years
I'm the shadow kissing your tears
blackened eyes left standing alone
hearts were frozen, hard as a stone

One candle burns as magic sighs
Mesmerized by powerful eyes
I'm the shadow kissing your tears
Two souls dancing within one sphere

Silently hypnotized by stars
True happiness and peace is ours
Embracing you forever dear
I'm the shadow kissing your tears

Quatern
A Quatern is a sixteen line French form composed of four quatrains. It is similar to the Kyrielle
and the Retourne. It has a refrain that is in a different place in each quatrain. The first line of
stanza one is the second line of stanza two, third line of stanza three, and fourth line of stanza
four. A quatern has eight syllables per line. It does not have to be iambic or follow a set rhyme
scheme.

I think this is a fairly difficult format, rigid in it's layout. But you did a good job with the format and the words were beautiful ..excellent
