The Whispers

by April Rose   Apr 16, 2012

What are these voices in my head?

Are they whispers of the dead?

Listen close to what's been said,

They whisper to me as I lay in bed.

Slowly more, and more I hear

Of the whispers in my ear.

To what is said draws a tear,

Telling secrets held so dear.

And still they whisper to this day,

Slowly driving me insane.

Still they whisper to me, never let me dream away.

Never sleeping night or day.

I listen to the voices in my head,

Know that they're from the dead.

No one believes what I've said,

Or hears the stories that I've dread.

I've lost all who I held so near,

Everyone thought so dear.

To what has happened draws a tear.

And now I hear them whisper in my ear.

And I know I'm next, the end is here.

    Wow awesome piece

"What are these voices in my head?
Are they whispers of the dead?"
I like these lines the best.

Obviously, this poem is about a person who can see or hear the dead; ghosts, spirits, the supernatural.. But this also reminds me of a friend of mine who'd hallucinate and say she hears voices in her head. Really powerful piece. Thanks for sharing 5/5 :)
