Just Listen

by The Ninja   Apr 16, 2012

Listen. Just listen.
Can you hear it?
The Earth is waking.
Our lives are shaking.

Listen. Please listen.
Listen for the
Wind in the trees.
Delight in the hum
Made by hungry bees.

Listen. Really listen.
Now can you hear it?
Can you hear our world?
It's calling. You could
Hear it, if you would
Just listen.

Please just listen.
It's trying to tell us
Something.
We might understand
If we would stop and
Just listen.

Listen now.
Listen to the water
As it runs through the creek
Listen to the gulls
As they fly and shriek.

We could change the world
We could save it
From ourselves.
Just try.
And just listen.

[for my best friend, who believed we could make a difference if we would just listen]

    And I forgot to mention:

    "The Eath is waking."
    Typo: Eath--Earth :)

Really well-written piece. It's great to find inspiration from someone close to us. And yes, listening does help. With listening comes actions.. I really liked every part of it, but this part seemed off:

    "Listen to the water
    As runs through the creek
    Listen to the gulls
As they fly and as they shriek"

I suggest you change it to make it flow better. My suggestion:

    "Listen to the water
As it runs through the creek
    Listen to the gulls
    As they fly and shriek."

Overall a wonderful piece. 5/5 Keep writing! And yes, I absolutely like it :)
