Little Black Bird

by Susan   Apr 20, 2012

Little black bird you tap tap tap on my window pane,
A butterfly out of the corner of your eye as your attention wanes .
Interest in my actions slowly fade,
Like the still after an infantry raid.
You rape my thoughts with you peck peck peck,
On the tree, on the window sill, chills on my neck.
What thoughts do you see when you close your eyes,
A swift wind could knock me over with just a few tries .
Love me little bird and I will free you from your cage,
Granting relief from your internal phage.

Little bird you tap tap tap on my window pane,
Know your noise is slowly driving me insane.
I scream into the depths of the dark,
Do you hear my envy do you see my remarks?
I wish I were you as you fly away until another day,
I'll miss your subtle peck peck peck that is your way.
I loathe the butterfly that caught your attention,
Come back my companion I'll beg for forgiveness and redemption.
