Alone

by Dee   May 2, 2012

As the wilting leaves cast shadows upon the sand,
I lay beneath the willows that drip tears of loneliness upon my shoulders. The sun exposes the vastness of the island on which I am alone. Waves shed a ring of foam around the island, encircling me, entrapping me in a world void of compassion. The ice crusted mountain bends the earth around it into a barrel shape, just like the heavy weight sinking into my gut. There is no dawn, no twilight. The sunlight is smothering yet there is total darkness.

I am on the island of my own sorrow. All hurt, emptiness, sadness. All collected in one space, crushing my soul, draining life.. Hell comes in all forms, all serving the same purpose.

Day to day these tears stain my cheeks. My heart resides in my stomach, sinking with each new rejection. I am alone in this world just as the island. My smiles strain my cheek bones in my thin sheet of deception, beneath lies an ocean of isolation.

I am alone..
