What is a real man?

by Shay   Jul 26, 2012

Excuse me sir, do you know where I got these eyes?
They are from a man who I'm supposed to love, but I utterly despise.
My brother too, he's the same as me, only too young to know how a real man is supposed to be.
You see sir, a man stands by his choices, no matter how hard, and he doesn't leave the ones he's claimed he loved, broken, and scarred.
I've learned a woman can take a mans place, kids don't need a dad, a real woman stands by her babies, no matter what the situation is, no matter how bad.
From a boy to his father, just so you know, blood is not thicker than water, but I came here today to tell you that I am done, and even though you may be my father, I will never be your son.

A poem I wrote for my brother.
