It took a long time to walk away from you
I would brush my hair behind my ear and sob quietly
But the only reason I ever walked away, boy
Was because I wanted you to come after me
Who told my heart to assume what I'd expected
Who told you to take that heart and just wreck it

You once said you'd be there for me whenever
