Let Go

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Jan 13, 2020

When I lie, it's when I'm lying in bed next to you,
When I'm looking deep in your eyes,
And in the darkness, I know that you know the truth...
But you can't figure out why
I say I love you but can't help it to tempt other guys,
Why can't I see that your love is one hell of a prize?

And it breaks my heart
To see you struggle to fix something that's already apart,
And it hurts my soul
To know the simplest thing to do is to let go

But just because it's simple doesn't make it easy,
Those tears fall down when you know you must leave me
I know I'm broken, and I'm not ready
For the kind of love that you're trying to give me

I do what I want, I don't see them as mistakes,
Then I'll have to apologize
For all the wrong I've been doing and everything I say,
And that's when you realize
That I'm not perfect- I'm not even good- I've just been floating by,
That I'm just toxic by letting you think I'm willing to try

And it hurts your heart
To know you struggle to fix something that's already apart,
And it hurts your soul
To know the simplest thing to do, is to let go
