Remember

by Dawn   Aug 11, 2012

It seems we're losing that closure.
Yet again the scent of lavender
slowly drives me insane,
and you make no movement to comfort me

Not even the strongest compass
Could point us
in the direction to bring our love
to newer heights.

Skeptical sighs rebound from that corner
That used to be a canvas
for words of compassion
and grace

And through it all,
I can't help but wonder if
your heart still beats when it remembers
the moments you swept me away

and even if you didn't,
I still do.
And it never seizes to
rob me of my shallow breathing.

I agree about the play on senses here, from lavender to the very last line "rob me of my shallow breathing" there was such a strong expression you used here to get to the reader.

Beautiful write, your lines have power to them yet make me think about what path will be taken, or what you will choose. I will definitely read again

This is seriously a gorgeous poem. On Monday I'm going to try and remember to nominate this.

I love the first stanza and the bit about lavender, you've played on so many sense here, and I really like this. Later on in the poem I adored the use of "skeptical sighs", I thought that was a lovely play off the tongue. The flow here is really soft and beautiful, as well.

The last two stanzas really wrapped the poem up well for me, the question as if rhetorical, you've already made your decision of how you'd handle it. I really adore this poem!

Thank you so much, it really does mean a lot, and you know exactly what I was trying to get at. I'm very surprised you liked it that much, and I thank you again.
