She is Not Safe

by lonelynow   Aug 17, 2012

She grew old in her youth
Now changes less with age
She fought a good fight
But the scars remain
Carefully littered across her hip
And where every curve becomes a dip

She has been a thousand people
Now struggles to be one
Calls her friends to help her
But they just take her home
And put her to bed, safe from harm
Not seeing the dangers in the dark

She struggles to eat
Listens to closely to the voice in her head
She saves money at the store
And hangs on by a thread
She lives by rules she cannot explain
Never fights with the voice that has no name

She hasn't a map for the mind
Falls often down the rabbit hole
She fights monsters in the dark
For the slightest control
And her thoughts are always the same
Chasing, blind, after her aim

She is a danger to herself
Finds sharp wherever she goes
She keeps her shame and secrets
Hidden under her clothes
By the dip of a hip, a trap of it's own
And by losing herself, she's all alone
