Took Me In

by Charlene Riner   Aug 28, 2012

You took me into your home when in need
A huge commitment on your part indeed
My food and clothes supplied by you
You did the best at all you tried to do
Unconditional love is what you gave to me
Now that I'm grown it's clear to see
When everyone abandoned me you opened your arms
Kept me safe and away from harm
You taught me morals and respect
What you gave I'll never forget
You didn't have to take me in and care
Of my birth you wasn't even aware
My real mother decided to rid of me
One time her face I'd like to see
It's hard to understand why she let me go
Regardless of pain you made my smile show
You're the stranger who became mother and friend
I know on you I can always depend
