Practically Pretending

by Vanesa   Oct 5, 2012

When they shut the door behind them, we moved a little closer.
When they shut the door behind them, our eyes locked together.
When they shut the door behind them, our mouths moved as one.

As our mouths moved as one, I tasted your cigarette tasting tongue.
As our mouths moved as one, I felt nothing excised and it was just you and me.
As our mouths moved as one, I felt your hand creep up my neck as you spread your God-like fingers threw my hair.

You said it with your eyes that you wanted to be there.
You said it with your lips that they wanted to be there.
You said it with the sudden movements of your hands ran through every strand of my hair.

We inched closer, and you looked into my eyes.
You don't love me.
I don't love you, but for the moment we can pretend because we just can.

You can pretend to notice the freckles on my face;
You can pretend to love every curve in my body;
You can pretend to see yourself in my eyes, because you just can.

You leave my lips for just a gasp of air.
It feels like an eternity.
On that couch, we spent a life time; or so it seems.

It seems to me that your hands are slipping from my hair.
It seems I felt your soft finger tips linger up my shirt drawing circles.
It seems to me that for this moment we're so much more than casual.

You casually tilt me back.
I casually move you forward.

Or maybe it wasn't this way at all.
Maybe we casually looked at each other, as my hands fiddle with my shirt.
Maybe my lips parted wondering where yours closed.
Maybe it was an illusion, I just pretended...Because I just can.
Your eyes pierced mine, and the smoke coming from your lips tempts me, as we shut the door behind us.
