Peddler's Haiku

by MyHalozChokinMe   Oct 21, 2012

You are a Shakespearean behemoth
and I just a peddler's Haiku.

Imitations of you are like kindergarten
noodle-faces fastened by flourescent
plastic letter magnets on refrigerators.

I am a small soldier in an army
of small black ants, swarming the
kitchen sink, scouring for the crumb
remnants from summertime barbeques.

Remembering your slight of hand's
beauty is like retracing my footprints
along the shore.

Should my arms fall within your reach,
the difference of you and I would
begin where the ocean meets the sky
and end dangling from the tip of a
crescent moon...

Pain reminds me, I am not like you;
I'm just a peddler's Haiku.

Love this one and very cleverly done too. It is good to see a title that makes you think you will read a certain form of poetry and then are surprised to find something totally different and unique. Nice work x

That feeling of never being good enough, or even just as good, I can say I know it all to well. I don't know why people have to constantly compare this person to that person. If we're taught to follow our own path, and be who we are...what does it matter someone else does?
Aside from that, I loved the title, it was quite unique. Your metaphors are also one of a kind. A sad but beautifully written piece of poetry :)
