A tattoo's journey

by Masked metaphor   Oct 27, 2012

Ink slithers up her arm,
weaving ancient stories from the depths of a sacred dream.
Mystical creatures decorated so intricately on the flesh of her left arm,
inviting me on a magical journey of explicit adventure within.

Memories engraved across the scroll parchments of her bodily features,
painted for the world to visually interpret
through the cognitive senses acting out as a multitude of teachers.

Cultures and beliefs encrypted within the detailed style,
a person's identity of life's definition moulded and woven among the body mile.

Stories and histories become frozen frames crafted and webbed by endless images of ink,
life's memories and inspirations revealed through the viewing of the interconnected link.

Secrets revealed through deliberately tainted codes,
messages so deep and sacred drained out from the needle into the open portrait of the soul.

Tattoos are awesome for telling stories. This is a very unique poem. Love the story to this. The imagery is really stunning and well crafted. Tattoos really do start with a journey though. Because before you get one there is a lot of planning out to do. Whether it be through pain or experience, sometimes we want to capture a memory for a long time to come. Each tattoo is a story not forgotten. The metaphors work well altogether though. It really does come from the soul as well. You have to put your whole heart into making this decision. But in the end it's worth it. Great write!

Being a fan of tattoos, having one myself, I can see the meaning behind this piece. I picture a beautiful woman with elegant but very detailed artwork across her arms and back every bit of it telling a story.

    Good read!

It's so powerful, I really dig it because tattoos have deep meaning and strength behind them, you have captured the profound deepness of what a tattoo is in this piece. I really enjoyed this read. :)
