If I Die Today

by Ridge   Nov 3, 2012

If I die today before I get it done
I'll lose my pride

Take my word I'm moving out of this town
When I'll lose my prime

A dark and secret somberness veils all the place
It's my whole life

And single shafts of light fall down with confidential grace
It will survive

A fresh clean wind comes over to cleanse the climber's soul
It came to decide

The world glows scarlet with the sullen seething pride
It's meant to die

The breathing of the mountain makes the hallowed journey whole
It looks so wise

Marbled rocks protruding, mossy from the ground
Into a perfect rhyme

A heavy hanging atmosphere muffles all the sound
Right in time

The way is working upwards, the craggy hill conspires
Across the line

The summit is approaching, the bells of lightness knell
It's not a lie

The sun breaks to the open sky
It's out of sight

Out on the raging battleground the ocean's churning field
Tremendous size

The words that had been spoken like lightening charred her heart
It's no surprise

On wild waves she whirled and was shaken by the sea
Swollen desire

The little boat she sat in groaned like a falling tree
Impressive strides

She bailed sorrow constantly and she strove to live
She's done to fight

A colorless and banal light emerged to show the day
And swept the night

And yet her vessel still was full no matter how she bailed
It can't disguise

There was no way that she could row no way she could have sailed
She'd never tried

The sorrow seized triumphantly, a fight she could not win
So hard not to cry

One last fiery throb, a heartbeat from resilient hope
Don't let it expire

It's going to take you and I'm so glad I met you
We walk with pride

I'm gone today and I've always said it
But now I'm definitively gone

You are the love and the greatest humain being
That I've ever met

Never forget today because it's the greatest moment
You've ever lived

This is such a breath taking poem, i read it 3 times to absorb it all in. Very profound and meaningful. I love such sort of poems when it challenges one to interprete according to ones comprehension. I love the images it paints in my mind, vivid and exotic. Gets one thinking how it'll turn out in the next line perhaps stanza..

Lifes' trials and uncertainties are confounded with questions. We go through miseries that keep pushing us further to the unknown, that'll paint a package of pangs of fate and tribulations. We live for a purpose and need to achieve that goal but with unforseen calamities that show up. We just can't assure a satisfactory ascend to our purpose of existence. Nothing good comes easy and to see your objective draining away, without an aim is most painful.

Whatever our plight lets try to accomplish our goals, through an unrelenting faith, staunch determination and will to persevere in all that we're subjected to. The puzzle will fall into place and with a hopeful spirit all shall be fine.
Good message and your poems makes one ponder which is great.
    Lovely write!
