Love

4 terrible letters,
1 horrible word.
Destroyer and builder of empires,
vicious and rapidly spreading.
Eloquently described and mentioned
yet impossible for me to detect it.

A fatal flaw in my internal directory,
red line through my life story.
It created unwanted expectations,
always ended up prooving my limitations.

I should never use the word,
cut it out of my vocabulary,
treat like it were a vulgarity.

So when you hear me utter
this word, fluent or in a stutter.
Flog me like I was Christ himself
denouncing my very base of existence.

But have mercy
Exercise some understanding
Listen to why I fail
in this complicated way of bonding

I can't preach
what I don't believe
I can't teach
what I don't know
I can't see
what I don't feel
I can't hope
if I don't want to

    Awww Thomas, baby this is so sad for me to read. :(

    I love the beginning of this poem, describing how powerful the word love is and how it is viewed, very nicely worded!!

    The ending made me sad, poetry wise I still loved it because it is true, we cant preach what we dont believe or see what we dont feel, but thats the best thing about life, is awaiting to learn about it...

    Just be patient, be open minded about it, there is someone for everyone and I know one day I'll be reading poems by you that are about a bombshell that has totally won you over....Its all about timing in life, we have to be patient because finding love and finding a mate is so very important to our happiness, and I feel that the reason 50% of people get divorced is because they rushed it....the best thing to do is be patient hun.....After this last break up I went through I decided to take some time of solitude, get myself together, then be open to finding someone. Youre young, focus on you! Make goals and reach them! Then on your path of finding your dreams, she'll come :)

    Yeah Wow I love this poem it is perfectly describing your title which goes well with the poem but I would have perfered you choose something more hmm not telling cause u can tell from the title what you are going to read which make the poem a lil boring since you can expect it
    anyway this is just great write which I assume the persona failed in love and don't want to try it anymore want to delete it from his life even the word he don't wana use anymore yet you got the bad and the good side of this "EVIL" word that is pretty smart I say cause it hmm shows wisdom like you are saying even the thing we hate the most have a good side in it

    oh also I don't think this should be categorized under Love poems but I dk maybe I understood it totally wrong
