When the Dark Ascends

by NineteenMinutes   Nov 15, 2012

Please don't turn out the light
Mommy don't shut the door
He appears when darkness ascends
And I can't bear to listen no more
He says such horrible things
And the things he asks me to do
Let me stay in the light
I feel much safer with you
He tells me to hurt my sister
His words are velvet and pry
At the very last of my resistance
And I'm beginning to feel that I
May give in to him
Sell the devil my soul
I don't want it to be this way
But he's starting to gain control
Everyday he grows angrier
His patience is wearing thin
I don't want to hurt you
I do not wish to sin
But he's so scary mommy
As he whispers in my ear
And my courage is dwindling
Outwayed by all my fear
Please don't leave me here
I don't trust myself any more
Please don't turn out the light
Mommy don't shut the door.
