Where are yo now?

by NineteenMinutes   Nov 15, 2012

Years ago when things were simple,
When things were black and white,
We used to build sandcastles in the daytime,
And tell ghost stories on the night,
Back when people didn't speak in riddles,
And we didn't obsess with our hair,
When make up consisted only of lipgloss,
And we took a second deciding what to wear,
Beaches were for paddling,
And parks were meant for play,
When we walked about care free and lively,
And just said what we wanted to say,
We didn't try to make a good impression,
And we laughed all day long,
Where are you now my childhood friend?
Where did it all go so wrong?
When did things become so serious?
When did we start to care
What other people think of us
And say when we're ot there?
I wish I could return there
To the days of laughter and joy,
To the land of the care free and the reckless,
Where no one was sly or coy,
To the time we spent together,
Building sandcastles in the day,
Enjoying the simple things in life,
But the tide has washed it away.
