The Circle of Us

by NineteenMinutes   Jan 22, 2013

It started with lust,
Pure burning, hot desire,
Every touch sent flames dancing along my skin
And I was addicted to the adrenaline
Your pressence provided.
Every whisper on the nape of my neck
Was simply intoxicating,
You demanded my attention,
My adoration
And I was weak to your charms
Your subtle, perfect beauty.
You captured my gaze with your endless eyes,
Such a warm brown that I,
A cold and lonely person,
Was held there captivated indefinately.
And the embers of my initial lust faded
But as they simmered a respect grew
An intimacy,
And although your touch no longer brought me to my knees,
It helped me rise from them,
You gave me courage and hope.
A new passion overwhelmed me,
Love.
Every kiss, every hug, every glance,
Was filled with silent promises and commitment,
I knew you were mine
And I yours.
I was no longer cold but warm in your embrace
No longer lonely but loved and supported
And every night you would weave to me a lullaby of our dreams entwined.
But dreams die
And hope, in all it's glory, cannot keep us sane
We watched slowly as our lives shattered,
Such a burning rage we possesed for each other,
We dug each others graves
I remember how we were,
Talking, laughing, trying,
Now we lay in stony silence,
Often feigning sleep
Fearful that the other may start a conversation that we can't finish,
How can we talk?
We are but strangers sharing a bed.
When did we get to hate?
