Hide And Seek

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 23, 2012

Deep in the darkness of the stormiest sea
there is a monster chasing my soul.
I do not see them coming,
they just suddenly appear.
I try to swim my fastest
but the current drowns my weakened strength.
My eyes cannot look backwards
nor can they look ahead.
My eyes can never open
under the poison which will blind me.
Hiding silently between the cracks
in the ocean floor, waiting for
hot magma to rise and tear apart
the fragile tectonic plates.
My breath is scarcely holding,
my courage running out.
The irony is that the breath
I desperately need
will only take me to my death.

The only question left is which way will I die:

The gasp of air which will drown my lungs
or the monster who seeks my soul?

It is an intriguing piece. I love questions in poems. They are though-provoking. I suppose the monster is inside all of us and it depends on our hearts to run away from it.Brilliant piece.

    Hello Saffie :-)

I've read this poem several times now and I get a visual a bit different from before... its like you and the monster and hiding and seeking... You took a cute title and gave it a dark side... and I admire that... In the depth of this piece you have the monster who haunts you daily and then the drowning of the sea (tears , sadness, depression) and so the ending ties up all the sides into one.. that is why I love this piece so much... as for the depth and dark side to this piece emotionally, I have always admired the fact of how you can express yourself and emotions with such ease in your writes... it amazes me.... HUGS YOU!

The title reminded me of a poem I once wrote, but the poem itself is so far from that, this is much better, the idea, wording, and everything about it:)

    GREAT JOB:)
